Who Am I?
Hi, I'm Timme Kingma. I'm currently studying Information Technology at Windesheim University of Applied Sciences in Zwolle, Netherlands, with a focus on software engineering and security. I live in Meppel and I'm 22 years old.
When I'm not coding, you’ll probably find me hitting the gym, riding my motorcycle, or exploring new ways to improve my programming skills. I’m passionate about both physical and mental challenges, and I love pushing myself to learn and grow.
Although I’m still early in my career, I’m excited to see where my journey in tech will take me. Whether it’s diving deeper into software development, security, or something else entirely, I’m always up for new challenges and opportunities.
My Journey
My interest in IT began when I was just 4 years old, playing video games on my PS1. My family later upgraded to a PS2, and my brother and I spent countless hours playing games like Need for Speed and James Bond: GoldenEye. I found myself fascinated not just by the games but by how everything worked mechanically—the phones I used, the cars in the game, and everything behind the scenes. This curiosity about technology grew with me over the years.
After finishing my preparatory secondary vocational education, I wasn’t sure where to go next. I always loved being creative—drawing and exploring new things—but I followed a friend’s lead into Game Development. I completed the program, but during my internships, I realized I needed something more. I wanted to challenge myself and truly grow in the field of IT. That’s when I decided to continue my education at Windesheim University of Applied Sciences. Here, I’m pushed to give my best and continue expanding my knowledge, not only through my coursework but also in my free time.
During my Game Development studies, I completed two valuable internships. The first was at NoPressureStudios, a game studio in Emmen, Netherlands, where I helped develop a game that reached over a million plays. My second internship was at VR Owl, where I learned about clean coding practices and effective teamwork. These experiences taught me how crucial it is to not just write code, but to work collaboratively with others. Through these roles, I’ve also developed a strong work ethic and a passion for continuous self-improvement.
Looking ahead, I’m excited to see where my IT career takes me. One of my biggest aspirations is to one day lead a team of interns and teach them the skills I wish I’d learned earlier in my journey. For now, my immediate goal is to finish my education at Windesheim and complete two amazing internships that will help me grow even further as a developer.
Unlocked Skills
Welcome to the "Unlocked Skills" section — where technical expertise meets a bit of humor. Developers love to list their skills on LinkedIn (Java, JavaScript, Rust, and the occasional "I know a little bit of Python"). But here, I’m showcasing mine with a twist. Think of it as your favorite game achievements, but for coding — because why not have a little fun with it?
Skill Levels Explained
Here's a brief explanation of the different levels of expertise:
- Novice: Just starting out with the technology, learning the basic concepts.
- Intermediate: Comfortable with the technology and can handle more complex tasks with some guidance.
- Advanced: Deep understanding of the technology and can handle complex problems independently.
- Expert: Highly proficient with the technology, able to solve complex problems and guide others, but still learning and evolving.
- Master: Theoretical level that represents the highest possible expertise, but it is a constant pursuit—one can never truly reach it.
